HOW

The swimming competition of Gay Games Valencia 2026 shall follow World Aquatics (FINA) rules and regulations and will take place in a 50-meter pool approved for competition, in accordance with the current World Aquatics (WA) regulations.

The venue will include:

  • Competition pool
  • Warm-up pool (during specific time slots)
  • Semi-automatic timing system
  • Call room area
  • Medal presentation area
  • Medical and emergency services.

Events will be conducted as individual and relay competitions.

The program shall include freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and individual medley events, across a range of standard distances.

We offer for each age group and gender (women, men and all gender) the following events

  • Individual Events
    • Freestyle: 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 m
    • Backstroke: 50, 100, 200 m
    • Breaststroke: 50, 100, 200 m
    • Butterfly: 50, 100, 200 m
  • Relay Events
    • 4 × 50 m Freestyle
    • 4 × 100 m Freestyle
    • 4 × 50 m Medley
    • 4 × 100 m Medley
    • 4 x 200 m Freestyle

Competition system

  • All events will be conducted as timed finals.
  • Heats will be seeded by entry times regardless of age or gender. Final results and awards will be determined within each gender and age group.
  • Lane assignments will be made in accordance with the procedures established by the organization and the applicable regulations.
  • The organization may adapt session schedules and heat organization depending on the number of participants or operational needs of the championship.
  • To optimize competition timing, the 800m and 1500m freestyle events will be swum with two swimmers per lane. In these events, swimmers will start in the water, with one swimmer positioned on each side of the lane.
  • Relay teams must comply with the gender and age group rules established by World Aquatics Masters Swimming regulations.
  • Relay events must be registered online. Swimmer names are not required at this stage and will instead be submitted on-site at the pool, 90 minutes before the corresponding session.

Medal Presentation

  • Awarded athletes must report to the medal presentation chamber at least 20 minutes before the corresponding ceremony. The organization does not guarantee the repetition of ceremonies in the event of the athlete’s absence.
  • The specific medal presentation procedures for each discipline will be detailed in their respective technical annexes.
