About the Games

In 2026, València will host a sporting and cultural event that is unique in the world, bringing together thousands of people every four years under the same spirit: inclusion, respect, diversity, and celebration.

Here, everyone is welcome, and every participation counts.

What are the Gay Games?

The Gay Games are a 8-day international event that combines sport, culture, and community. They were created with a clear objective: to celebrate the diversity and visibility of LGBTQIA+ identities together with all allies.

In València 2026, you will have an unforgettable experience:

  • You will compete in your sport and have the chance to reach the podium in your category.
  • You will march in the opening ceremony and enjoy unique concerts and shows.
  • You will enjoy music, culture, workshops, and social activities.
  • You will make friends from all over the world in the Gay Games Village, the heart of the event.

Your athletic ability doesn’t matter here: the essential factor is to participate, share, and enjoy.

More than a competition:
a global experience

In addition to all the competitions, concerts, and cultural activities, your registration will contribute to making the Games a responsible event as you will be supporting:

  • Safety
  • Accessibility
  • Sustainability
  • The visibility of inclusive sports

When you’re not competing, the Gay Games Village will be your meeting point. A lively space with shows, food, and activities where you can relax, meet people, and enjoy the local atmosphere

Ceremonies and unique moments

Opening ceremony

You will experience all traditional moments in the opening, also the exciting parade of nations, but also a spectacular evening of music, dance, and unforgettable artists and performances, all in the same venue.

Sports and cultural competitions

Throughout the week, a calendar full of challenges, fun, and camaraderie awaits you. You will play any of the 39 sports, or you will even try our local sports, that you will learn with us (attention! It’s easy to fall in love with pilota or colpbol!). And if you’d rather pick other type of events, the cultural agenda is full of activities: just decide if you want to be an active part of them, or just part of the audience!

Events and activities

From concerts to talks and workshops, including the emotional International Rainbow Memorial Run, a tribute to those who are no longer with us but remain part of the spirit of the Games.

Medal ceremonies

Each competition will have its moment of glory, with medals for the top three places in each category. Will you get any?

Closing ceremony

A spectacular show full of music and emotion will close the Games, until we meet again at the next edition: we will hand over the flag, will say ‘See you in 2030!’, but will also dance as on day 1.

Much more than just a competition

The Gay Games are about sports, culture, celebration, and community. Come to València in 2026 and be part of a historic event that will give you memories to last a lifetime… and maybe, with a little effort, a medal too!
