Fencing is a duel of precision, strategy and speed, and at Gay Games XII Valencia 2026 we will have the opportunity to fill the Benimaclet sports centre, one of the most essential neighbourhoods in the city (as well as the most student-oriented). To ensure maximum safety, the following will be required:

  • FIE-certified jacket and trousers (800N) plus FIE under-plastron (800N)
  • FIE-certified mask (1600N)
  • Glove in good condition
  • Socks and sport shoes.

HOW

Competition Format

  • Events offered:
    • Individual Épée
    • Individual Foil
    • Individual Sabre
  • Classification:
    • 1st series – according to FIE Veteran Ranking
    • 2nd series – fencers ranked by national ranking
    • 3rd series – unranked fencers
  • Formula (applies to all three weapons):
    • Preliminary groups: 6–7 fencers per group
    • Bouts to 5 hits / 3 minutes
  • Direct elimination:
    • Épée & Foil: bouts to 15 hits / 3 periods of 3 minutes
    • Sabre: 15 hits / 3 minutes, with a 1-minute break after one fencer reaches 8 hits
  • The final format may vary depending on the number of participants in each weapon and category.
  • A minimum of 6–7 fencers is required per competition.
  • Participants may be grouped by category, but never by weapon.
