How do you get a small group of people to unleash their energy and skills in a team sport? There are many ways, but if it’s a team of six, it’s volleyball, one of the disciplines present in almost every multi-sport club in the collective. Coordination and strategy are key to overcoming your opponents on the court.

Come to the Gay Games XII Valencia 2026 and, depending on your level, you will play in one of the three facilities alocated for the excitement of volleyball.

HOW
We offer competitions divided by gender category and skill level.
Gender Categories:
- All-Gender
- Women’s
Skill Divisions (with location):
- Level AA Competition > Malvarrosa
- Level A > Malvarrosa
- Level BB > Cabañal-Cañamelar
- Level B > Benicalap
- Level C > Nou Moles
Format of Play
- Preliminary round-robin pools played over the first two and a half days of competition. The purpose of this phase is to establish a ranking that will determine seeding for the final phase.
- Whenever possible, pools of five teams will be formed, allowing each team to play 4 matches.
- Pool matches are played in a 2-set format with a maximum duration of 45 minutes per match.
- Winners’ Bracket matches are played as best-of-three sets, with a maximum duration of 70 minutes per match.
- Losers’ Bracket matches are played as a single set, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes per match.
- Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 6 matches.
- Rally point scoring applies. Sets must be won by a two-point margin.
- Rules follow the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) standards, adapted for inclusion and local conditions.

WHO
- Each team must have a minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 10.
- There will be a division for both All gender’s and Women’s teams in the following categories:
- Division AA – Highly competitive / elite
- Division A – Advanced competitive
- Division BB – Upper-intermediate
- Division B – Intermediate
- Division C – Recreational / beginner
- Women can compete on All-Gender teams.
- Senior Divisions (50+) may be added for All-Gender and Women’s categories if at least 5 teams register; otherwise, these teams compete in the standard divisions.
