WHO
The Gay Games Valencia Band Festival will have multiple performances throughout the week as part of a massed band where all registrants from around the world will play together under one baton.
We welcome anyone with moderate to advanced playing skills for the following instruments (no audition required):
- Flute / Piccolo
- Oboe
- Bassoon
- B-flat Clarinet
- Bass Clarinet
- Alto Sax
- Tenor Sax
- Baritone Sax
- French Horn / Mellophone
- B-flat Trumpet
- Trombone
- Bass Trombone
- Euphonium / Baritone
- Tuba
- Cello
- String Bass
- Percussion – standard concert equipment (snare, bass, mallets, auxiliary, etc.)
- Color Guard (short or swing flag, baton, poms, dance)

Community bands have been an important element in the Gay Games since the first Opening Ceremony in 1982. València is a true band city; every town in the València region has a community-based band and Valencia hosts one of the largest annual band competitions in the world. The Gay Games València Band Program will bring together musicians from multiple countries under one baton, as the most diverse band program in Gay Games history. Participating in the band program will be a once in a life-time experience.

Music is a universal language to connect, celebrate, and share our cultures as musicians. Registering for the band program will allow you to play in the Opening Ceremony, several pop-up concerts in plazas around the city, and perform in the Band Festival massed band at the Palau de la Música. Perform alongside musicians from the international network of community bands, Pride Bands Alliance, on our journey to be the most diverse LGBTIAQ+ band program in the world.

The Band Festival concert is being organized by Nieves Pascual, deputy manager of the Palau de la Música with deep experience running major band events. Together with Artistic Director, Juan Pablo Valero (lecturer, pianist, and director of València Music City), and Guest Conductor, Chris Green, (clinician, composer, and director representing Pride Bands Alliance) the Gay Games band program is ready to welcome all!
