Transexualia, Spanish Association of Trans People, delivers the first ‘Formación de ciudad’ (‘City Trainings’) of Gay Games València

  • This session continues with the local organizing committee’s educational initiative aimed at strengthening the event’s legacy.

  • This first workshop will take place on Monday, February 23, at 11am and will be delivered by the Spanish Association of Trans People (Transexualia), focusing on sexual diversity.

The Spanish Association of Transsexual People (Transexualia) will kick off the “City Trainings” next Monday, February 23, at 11am, as part of the Gay Games XII València 2026. The initiative is designed to ensure the event becomes “a legacy and a transformation of everyday life.”

With this goal in mind, the Gay Games XII València 2026 organizing committee will host three open “City Trainings” aimed at key sectors such as volunteers, hospitality professionals, and retail workers, helping prepare them to welcome the nearly 40,000 people expected to travel to València for this major sporting and cultural event.

The first session will be held on February 23 at 11am at the headquarters of the Fundación Deportiva Municipal de València, the Department of Sports at the City Council (Petxina Sports and Cultural Complex). In collaboration with Transexualia, the workshop will raise awareness about sexual diversity, and particularly the realities faced by trans people. One of the speakers will be the organization’s president, Cristina Jiménez Molina.

The second “City Training,” scheduled for March 10, will focus on communicating for equality and responding to hate speech and misinformation. The final session will address key principles for providing services through an accessibility lens.

“With these trainings, we hope to create a legacy that goes beyond the event itself. This is a commitment to visibility, empathy, and accessibility. We want the Gay Games to come to València—and stay,” the local organizing committee stated.

About the Gay Games

The Gay Games are an international event combining sports, culture, and community. They were founded nearly half a century ago with a clear purpose: to celebrate diversity and the visibility of LGTBIAQ+ identities together with all allies—without barriers and with the aim of participating, sharing, and enjoying.

Gay Games XII València 2026 will take place from June 27 to July 4, 2026. During those days, thousands of participants from around the world will gather in València to compete in dozens of sports—from football to pétanque—take part in a wide cultural program and celebrate diversity together in a safe and inclusive environment.
