HOW
- We offer Full Powerlifting (Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift) and Single Lift events.
- We offer both Equipped (Single Ply) and Unequipped events.
- All events are run together on the same day, with Single Lift participants only permitted to enter two events maximum.
- Those capable of lifting in all three disciplines are automatically entered into the Full Powerlifting event.

WHO
All categories are open to all regardless of Gender, Sexuality, Race, Religion Ability or Health Status.
- Closed Category for Powerlifters who are members of any internationally recognised drug tested Powerlifting or Strength Federation. (Please note: People lifting this category will be required to submit a copy their current membership card with their entry form and also show the card at registration).
- Open Category for Powerlifters of other Federations and lifters who do not currently belong to any Powerlifting Federation.
- Novice Category for Powerlifters that have never competed in ANY powerlifting competition before.
LGBT IPC has Gender Age Categories, which apply to all Genders.
- Sub-Junior: from the day they reach 14 years and throughout the full calendar year in which they reach 18 years.
- Junior: from 1 January in the calendar year they reach 19 years and throughout the full calendar year in which they reach 23 years.
- Senior: from 1 January in the calendar year they reach 24 and throughout the full calendar year in which they reach 39 years.
- Master I: from 1 January in the calendar year they reach 40 years and throughout the full calendar year in which they reach 49 years.
- Master II: from 1 January in the calendar year they reach 50 years and throughout the full calendar year in which they reach 59 years.
- Master III: from 1 January in the calendar year they reach 60 years and throughout the full calendar year in which they reach 69 years.
- Master IV: from 1 January in the calendar year they reach 70 years and upwards.
Bodyweight Categories: Gay Games Powerlifting has Gender Neutral Weight Classes, which apply to all Genders.

WHAT
Mandatory Equipment
1. Singlet
- A one-piece, form-fitting, non-supportive lifting suite.
- Allows judges to clearly observe body positions during lifts.
2. T-Shirt
- Worn under the singlet during squat and bench press.
- Must have sleeves; tank tops are generally not permitted.
3. Underwear
- Non-supportive briefs without legs are required.
4. Socks
- Deadlift: Long socks covering the shins to prevent contact with the bar.
- Squat/Bench: Standard-length socks.
5. Shoes
- Squat/Bench: Flat-soled or heeled lifting shoes for stability.
- Deadlift*: Thin-soled shoes or deadlift slippers to minimize range of motion.
Optional Equipment
6. Lifting Belt
- Must comply with width and thickness specifications.
7. Wrist Wraps
- Length and material may be regulated.
8. Knee Sleeves or Wraps
9. Chalk
- Magnesium carbonate o Liquid chalk to improve grip.
